I have been  an avid  bicycle rider  for many  years, doing  duatholons when I  was  younger,  commuting   to work on  my bike ( 36 mile ride) and being  a Ride  Leader  for many years  for my  local  club  the North Florida Bicycle  Club   www.nfbc.us     After my trip across the United  States on a wonderful  commercial tour from L.A.  to  Boston I decided  that bike touring was going to be my next vocation.   Showing our lovely part of the country to cycling enthusiasts is my goal and plan.  When it is  cold and you  cannot  ride where you live because of the snow,  come down to Florida's First Coast where the weather is cycling  weather all year long.

I started riding my first bike,  a Raliegh 21 speed,  in  1969 and used it  to commute in college and later medical school  in  Boston.  Little  did I know then  how important cycling would be in my life. In  my  30's   after having a family and having several children  I  started to ride my bicycle again.   I would  commute  some  days  to  my  medical office  and then to the hospital  where I made rounds.   In  1990 I started riding the local MS 150 in Jacksonville Florida and began riding in  groups.  I  immediately  noted  I  needed  a new bicycle if I  was going to keep  up  with anybody,  so I bought my  first Trek.  Since then  I have had several Treks and still have a beautiful  Discovery 5.9, and have done many  MS 150's.  Over the years I have logged many  miles  with  my local  club and done a number of both commercial and non-comercial  rides.  One of the best rides  I ever did was  The Camino  de Santiago  in  Spain which is actually a religious  pilgrimage and is of great historical  importance.   Another milestone was riding across America in 2007 after I had retired  from  my  medical practice.  After being active in the local  bicycling community and having experienced the joy and benefits of cycling  I want  to work  in a situation that will help others  find  and enjoy this special activity.  For me, running a  bicycle tour in  my  little corner of our wonderful state of Florida  is the ideal thing to do.  Basing the tour on our property on the Atlantic Ocean,  the Amelia Oceanfront Bed and Breakfast,  in  conjunction  with  the Florida House  Inn our partners brings you  the old world  charm of Fernandina, city of 8 flags,  and the beach,  and cycling 60  to 80 miles every day;  what  could be more perfect ?
